New to ESOL

This workshop is specifically designed for leaders and teachers who are very new to teaching ESOL.
It will cover:
Enrolment procedures to identify ELLs
ESOL funding entitlements and procedures
Using the ESOL funding appropriately
ELLP Pathway or ELLP matrices – which one should you use?
Key resources for working with English Language Learners
Setting up an effective ESOL programme.
Suitable for:
Leaders with responsibility for English Language Learners
ESOL teachers
SENCOs/Learning Support Co-ordinators
The cost is $250 + GST
For those that cannot attend the live sessions, a recorded link will be sent out to watch at a convenient time.

ESOL practical strategies
Thursday 4 March and Thursday1 April 2027
This is one of our most popular workshops!
Two days of practical ESOL strategies that can be used as part of ESOL support programmes or in mainstream classrooms.
Content will include:
Using the information from the English Language Learning Progressions and/or the ELLP Pathway to design effective learning experiences for emerging bilingual learners.
Engaging tasks to build oral language skills
Explicit teaching of vocabulary
Key resources and how they can be used effectively
Planning practical tasks to use in classrooms or ESOL programmes
Supporting English language learners with learning to read and write
Suitable for:
Leaders with responsibility for English Language Learners
ESOL teachers
SENCOs/Learning Support Co-ordinators
Teacher aides
The cost is $450 + GST

ESOL Online Learning Community 2027
In 2027, Tools4Teachers will again be hosting our popular series of online meetings to support ESOL teachers across the motu.
These are suitable for ESOL teachers, classroom teachers, LSCs, SENCOs or leaders in schools.
They will be facilitated by Erin McKechnie.
The sessions are designed to be responsive to the needs of the community, and the exact topics for the sessions may change depending on feedback from participants.
The cost for the 4 sessions is $240 + GST for an individual teacher.
For schools that would like to have a school subscription, the rate is $600 + GST per school.
